Nobel Prize in Physics

This year’s winners for the Nobel Prize in Physics were primary researchers on the COBE satellite at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. When I was an engineer, about eight or nine years ago or so, I actually did some work while I was at Goddard on some of the COBE data. Personally, I was working on interstellar dust stuff, so I never knew Mather or Smoot, but most of my colleagues on the SeaWiFS project had come over from COBE after COBE had wrapped up primary operations. So I have a very, very, very tenuous link to this year’s prize! How cool is that?
