PRL goes free … sort of

Well, here’s your chance to get your hands on some famous articles from Physical Review Letters without mortgaging the house for a subscription to PROLA.  For an apparently limited time, in honor of its 50th anniversary, PRL has posted some of its most famous articles (letters) for free.

While we’re on the topic, why is it that journals are so damned expensive?  There are plenty of other publications out there that are produced regularly and without ads that don’t cost an arm and a leg.  And I’m not talking about the European journals which are partially subsidized by their governments.  Hell, a PDF of one article costs a quarter of my annual dues!

Ok, I’m done ranting.
