Fact for August 16, 2008

Sea cucumbers are animals that can grow to over 6 feet in length, can crawl and burrow, have digestive and reproductive systems – but do not have a brain. Hmmm. I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere.

  1. There’s the joke about the sea squirt: it’s a creature that starts its life as an animal, and drifts among the currents until it finds a rich source of nutrients, at which time it settles in an attaches itself to rock or coral. It becomes basically a vegetable at this point; because it no longer needs it brain, and so devours it. This whole process is known as “getting tenure”

HAHAHAHAHA. I guess I must have devoured my own brain recently then.
