LHC is up and running…and we’re still here The LHC finally smashed together some sub-atomic particles and, lo and behold, we are all still here (I think). But we feel OK since we’re the ones that survived. Look up QS, but briefly: if MWI is true, there are innumerable versions of us created by all the quantum possibilities. Only the ones that stay alive can observe and carry out the effective outcomes of their chance of existing (get it?) So even if LHC had a million to one chance of destroying the earth, we can’t tell since we’re the ones that were very lucky as the quantum dice rolled. It’s not that much different from the many-laws blowoff of the anthropic principle. Snark, or necessary consequence of MWI? Who knows? Reply Who knows? I’m beginning to think none of us really knows anything. We like to think we do, but we really don’t. We’re just making fancier and fancier descriptions of what we see, but that’s it. Nothing more.
